Beyond ODF: Towards Total Urban Sanitation

Technical Support to Government of Andhra Pradesh for Decentralized Sanitation Improvement and Faecal Sludge Management in all Towns (Focus on Palacole, Kovvur, Narsapur, Nellore)

Sampoorna Swachhta Sankalp (S3) is a project of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Ernst & Young (EY) and University of Chicago to design, implement, and monitor improved decentralized sanitation systems in Andhra Pradesh. S3 aims to improve sanitation, safety and health across the state by going beyond curbing open defecation and ensuring safe and effective fecal sludge treatment and management.

Technical Assistance to MA&UD, GoAP aims to:

  • Extend implementation support to the three towns of Narsapur, Palacole and Kovvur as well as the city of Nellore, for promoting city wide delivery of sustainable and equitable sanitation solutions including effective FSM.
  • Provide policy, advisory and technical support to the MA&UD, GoAP and build capacities for scaling up and adapting the FSM & decentralized solutions developed for the pilot towns, to all other towns of the state
  • Extend advisory support to the sub-group on SBM and the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) in national initiatives to promote urban sanitation /FSSM in India.
